Why We're Doubling Down on Futuriom

Futuriom Crew band

By: R. Scott Raynovich

Sometimes it’s time to double down. This year is the right time for Futuriom.

We have doubled the size of our staff in the past four months—and today I'm announcing more of these staff additions! At the same time as we are expanding our staff, we are preparing to launch new AI data services as well as coverage areas for 2026.

There’s a reason for our timely expansion. Although AI infrastructure and services are exploding in the market, there's a growing credibility gap between hype and reality—and we are the experts to help you fine-tune your view of reality. With the amount of noise growing, the market is starved for original, trusted insights.

At the same time, I just have that feeling: This is fun, let’s do more!

With that, at a time when AI threatens jobs, we are making investments in the most important resource for any company: people. Let’s run through what’s happening with our amazing people.

We Got Geddes!

Earlier in the year, we hired Craig Matsumoto, a longtime industry colleague and one of the smartest technology analysts in the business. Craig worked with myself as well as Dave Williams at the telecom B2B news and analysis shop Light Reading, where we all helped pioneer the integration of industry research, news, and events.

Now, there’s more. I’m pleased to announce that Jeff Geddes, another veteran of the Light Reading/Heavy Reading/TechTarget/Omdia industrial complex, is joining us as an Account Director, to help us accommodate more client interest. I'm confident that "The Beard," as he's now known around here, can expand our business as rapidly as his facial hair (the photo below does not do The Beard full justice).

Indeed, we are getting more client inquiries than ever. This might be a trend as technology companies seek out more nimble and specialized firms with focused knowledge. Some of the larger technology research firms are struggling—for example, Gartner’s share price is down 50% on the year (third worst performance in the S&P). We think it's because the big shops have lost a step.

And yes—this looks like we are getting the band back together—and expanding it! Jeff worked with Dave Williams, our Director of Client success, for years at Light Reading and Heavy Reading (now part of Omdia). Dave has been my colleague in business for years, including the days when we pioneered integrated research and events at Light Reading/Heavy Reading, and now he has an experienced teammate on the mission to expand our services and client programs.

Jeff, aka The Beard, is a highly skilled businessperson. With experience in both finance and business development, he’s going to help us communicate the value of our integrated research and media products to clients, as well as help strategize on business expansion.

Another Rayno in the House

And guess what—there’s another Raynovich in the house! Juliet “Chart Queen” Raynovich (yes, related), has been doing essential research behind the scenes for months. She’s eager to jump on the masthead as a Junior Data Analyst and expand her role building out our data products for Cloud Tracker Pro.

Juliet, with a dual degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from UC San Diego, is well-equipped to help us build the AI Enterprise Index, our large library of case studies tracking enterprise AI deployments, which she has been diligently building with Mary Jander for months. We’ve shared some of the findings of the AI Enterprise Index, but stay tuned for more as we officially launch this service on September 15th. Juliet also has experience in AI coding and is helping us research AI services.

Craig and Mary, of course, will keep doing Craig and Mary things. They are veteran analysts who have the experience to navigate you through the ins and outs of cloud and AI infrastructure. It’s not a coincidence that most of us worked together for years at Light Reading/Heavy Reading, building that enterprise into the industry standard for research and information in the telecommunications sector. We are going to replicate that success across cloud and AI infrastructure. Juliet's data-gathering skills will help support our entire analyst team.

Credible Analysis in a Noisy World

There is a reason why our content and research has resonated with the market and why it’s time to expand. With AI-generated content, social media networks, and hype flooding the airwaves, the technology infrastructure markets have never been noisier. The market needs credible insights.

We all continue to use and experiment with AI to speed up our understanding of markets, but there's still no substitute for a human guide. We believe there’s still a place for sensible people with decades of experience to interpret data and information for our audience. The need for trust has never been greater.

And with addition resources, we can cover more. Whether we are explaining how quantum computing will change encryption, what scale-up networking means, how the AI bubble might unfold, where there are flaws in the latest research study, or Cisco’s need for a strategy shift (it appears that they listened to us), this team cranks out more interesting research and content than anybody in the industry. And you can hold me to that.

The expansion of our Cloud Tracker Pro databases (5G Services Tracker, Hybrid Cloud, Enterprise AI) gives us the data-driven foundation to present analysis and trends with confidence, in a world where people seem to have less confidence. Both Jeff and Juliet are key additions to help us launch the Enterprise AI Index, which will be officially launched in the next two weeks.

All of this comes after Futuriom hit record levels of audience traffic, client projects, and revenue in the 1H of 2025. Things are definitely moving up and to the right. The growth will now continue. Take a look at our services and research calendar. And feel free to drop us a line to tell us what you think!

Finally, I want to thank the new team members for jumping on board. You can see our full staff here. For an enterprise that started as a lone analyst in the hills of Montana, I’ve never been more excited. And it’s great to have company.
