Cloud Tech Pro Q&A: Scott Robertson, Co-op Group
Scott Robertson is the Principal Enterprise Architect, Foundation Technology, at Co-Operative Group Ltd. (Co-op Group) in the UK, where he helps to establish policies for an IT estate supporting a retail operation encompassing over 2,500 local, medium, and convenience-style food stores owned by a consumer co-operative. The Co-op Group is also a major funeral service provider in the UK, with more than 800 funeral homes. Employing 56,000 people, the Co-op Group has an annual turnover of over £11 billion and is known for its social goals and community-led programs.
Scott has worked for the Co-op Group for 18 years, during which he has architected a multi-region hybrid cloud environment to host both traditional and DevOps workloads. He is currently governing a large-scale datacenter-exit program, which is migrating workloads into both cloud and collocated environments.

Futuriom: Hi Scott, thank you for taking the time to chat. I’ve read a few of the case studies of the Co-operative Group’s shift to hybrid cloud in which you were quoted awhile back. And I’d ask first about what’s changed.
