How 10 Telcos Are Getting Ahead
As a group, telecommunications providers worldwide have reached a decisive moment: They are faced with the failure of 5G to live up to expectations. They’re confronted by enterprise customers grown tight-fisted from macroeconomic woes. They face unprecedented competition in business services from the major public cloud providers. They’re falling behind in AI. With revenues down, the time has come to change or continue to lose out.
There are signs that a number of service providers worldwide are stepping up to that change. These telcos are adopting technologies, including AI, to help streamline their existing networks, reducing capital expenses and operating costs. In addition, some are leveraging these technologies to create new services and sources of revenue.
In the list below, we highlight ten of these trend-setting telcos. These are companies that are pivoting from the inertia inherent in many incumbent providers. While they may still struggle with profitability, they are taking the initiative toward a future that isn’t merely tacked onto legacy infrastructure. They are seeking new markets. They’re leveraging AI to implement AI operations (AIOps) and they’re exploring generative AI (GenAI) for a range of use cases. They aren’t sitting still lamenting the failure of 5G services to meet expectations but are taking action to stimulate demand.
